Crete is the southernmost island of Europe and forms the natural border between the Aegean and the Libyan sea, it connects Europe and Africa.

The climate is regarded as one of the healthiest and mildest worldwide. Owing to the high mountains, a steady fresh breeze will provide pleasant temperatures even in high summer.

The island has a typical mountainous character with wild ravines, romantic plateaus, fissured mountains (highest mountain Psiloritis 2456m) and more than 300 caves carved into the mountains.

Crete is delightful for all holiday makers and especially for MTB fans. The landscape once rocky, wild and dusty will change into lush green fields which are, especially in spring, covered with poppy and cornflowers. Thousands of olive trees and vineyards build a beautiful contrast to the labyrinths of mountain trails and the lonely beaches on the coastal area.

The many old mountain villages are particularly charming, in which the time seems to just have stopped. If Giorgos or Yannis invites us to "rakki", wine, sheep cheese and grapes it will leave you with unforgettable memories. The hospitality of the Cretes is boundless. You do not have to speak greek, a friendly smile goes all the way!

Bike Arena in Amoudara
The MTB arena around Amoudara is a true joy.
Just next to the bike station rises the coastal mountains Koulukonas. And only a short bike trip away, you find yourself on the foot of Cretes largest mountains, the Ida- Massif.
The hilly area on the south-east will invite you for a ride through luscious vineyards with many wonderful look out points into the valleys below.
With a bus transfers of just 35min we arrive at the Dikti mountain with the famous Lassithi plateau, also known as the valley of the windmills.
It takes a little longer to reach the impressive coastal mountains of Asterousia on the islands south coast. There is lot's of challenge of hard rising bike tracks along mountain ridges and passes - but the pure pleasure of a refreshing bath in the crystal clear water of the Libyan sea afterwards, will compensate for all the effort.
